Vehicle Inspections

Every vehicle in the ReefRide fleet undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection before each rental. Our local mechanics check brakes, tires, fluids, lights, wipers, and all critical safety systems. If a vehicle does not pass, it does not go out.

  • Brake pads and rotors inspected every rotation
  • Tire tread depth and pressure verified
  • All lights and signals confirmed operational
  • Engine diagnostics run for warning codes
  • Interior sanitized and deep-cleaned

Insurance Coverage

Every ReefRide rental includes baseline liability insurance that meets or exceeds Hawaii state requirements. During booking, you can upgrade to our Premium Protection plan, which covers collision damage, theft, and personal effects — so you can drive with complete peace of mind.

  • Standard coverage — state-required liability included at no extra cost.
  • Premium Protection — collision, theft, and personal belongings coverage with a low deductible.
  • Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) — extended third-party coverage up to $1,000,000.

24/7 Roadside Assistance

Flat tire on the Hana Highway? Locked your keys in the trunk at Waimea Bay? Our local roadside team is available around the clock. Call or text the number in your booking confirmation and a real person — not a recording — will coordinate help immediately.

Roadside assistance includes towing, jump starts, tire changes, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery at no additional charge for the duration of your rental.

Safe Driving in Hawaii

Driving on the islands is a little different from the mainland. We include a quick island driving guide with every booking that covers:

  • One-lane bridges and right-of-way etiquette on Maui and Kauai
  • Speed limits in residential and rural areas
  • Rainy-season road conditions and flash flood awareness
  • Restricted roads that require 4WD (we will let you know which vehicles qualify)

Accident & Emergency Protocol

In the unlikely event of an accident, here is what to do:

  1. Ensure everyone is safe. Call 911 if there are injuries.
  2. Move the vehicle to a safe location if possible.
  3. Exchange information with the other party and take photos of the scene.
  4. Call ReefRide support — we will guide you through next steps and coordinate a replacement vehicle if needed.
