Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve & Garden
AttractionOnomea Bay, ~15 min north of HiloGardenScenicWildlife
The most spectacular botanical garden on the Big Island, featuring a 40-acre rainforest garden above the dramatic cliffs of Onomea Bay. Trails wind through towering heliconia, torch ginger, and waterfalls past an ancient lava tube. The viewpoint over the bay — where dolphins and turtles are often visible — is one of the most beautiful spots on the island.
Tip: Allow 2-3 hours to walk the full trail network. Bring mosquito repellent. The garden café serves excellent lunches. Combine with a stop at Akaka Falls on the same scenic drive.
