The most popular snorkeling beach on the Big Island and one of the best in all of Hawaii. The shallow, protected cove is packed with green sea turtles, tropical fish, and vibrant coral — often so crowded with marine life that turtles swim directly past snorkelers. The calm, shallow water is ideal for beginners and kids.
Tip: Go early (8-10 AM) for the best snorkeling and fewer crowds. The rocks on the left side (north) of the beach hold the highest concentration of marine life. Lifeguards on duty daily.
