Kealakekua Bay

~1 hr 15 min from KonaSnorkelingKayakingHistorical

A marine life conservation district with some of the best snorkeling in all of Hawaii. The calm, crystal-clear water is home to spinner dolphins, vibrant coral reefs, and hundreds of tropical fish. The white monument on the far shore marks where Captain James Cook was killed in 1779.

Tip: Kayak tours from the south side of the bay are the best way to snorkel both sides. The hike down the Ka'awaloa Trail is steep (4 miles round trip) but rewards you with the bay nearly to yourself.
