Ka Lae is the southernmost point in the United States. The windswept cliffs and turquoise waters are dramatic and uncrowded. Nearby, the famous Punalu'u Bake Shop sells the best malasadas and sweetbread on the island — a must-stop for any Big Island road trip.
Tip: The road to South Point is narrow and windy — take it slow. Green Sand Beach (Papakolea) is a 2.5-mile hike from the road and is one of only four green sand beaches in the world.
