Named for the underwater lava tube tunnels in its reef, this North Shore beach is considered Kauai's best snorkeling spot. The wide reef creates calm, shallow waters teeming with sea turtles and tropical fish. The backdrop of Makana (Bali Hai) mountain makes it one of the most photographed beaches in Hawaii.
Tip: Ha'ena State Park reservations are required for entry. Snorkel only when the ocean is calm — winter swells make it dangerous. Summer is ideal.
